Menace by J.M. Darhower [Scarlet Scars Book 1] - Review
The story is told from alternating point of views. Morgan and Lorenzo meet at a bar where she pickpockets him and steals his money.
Morgan has escaped her past and has been running ever since, doing whatever she can to get by.
Lorenzo is snarky and his sarcastic remarks are so hilarious at times, it makes him seem charming. Don't let that fool you though. He is a merciless man. A dangerous man. Dangerous as in, if you cross him, he'd slit your throat without blinking an eye. He's brutally unapologetic. He's contentious. He's the most feared man in NY.
But Lorenzo is not the monster in this story.
"I've been told a time or two that I spiral, 0 to 60 in the blink of an eye, one second I'm perfectly fine, laughing, smiling, the next I've got my hands around someone's throat choking the life out of them."
"Being as the head of the Russian mob is currently hunting her, I'm thinking shooting her in the face would be merciful compared to what he might want her for."
"Dying has nothing on the horrors of surviving."
"Seeing him kill others desensitized me, but realizing he'd kill me too..."
"Big words for a guy who drinks Capri Sun"
This story is dark, suspenseful, mysterious, and hot!
